Hard to believe it's been a month since we were in Ethiopia. The jet lag wasn't too bad this year (thank goodness, since I had to teach the morning after we returned).

Thank you for all of the very nice comments about my blog. I enjoy writing it, even when I'm forcing myself to stay awake back at the hotel after a long day with the kids. Your affirmations keep me going! :-)

One of the things we learned on this trip is that because one of the care points (Grace Baptist) is not at 50% sponsorship, it is difficult to provide regular food to all of the families. The care points try to make sure that all of the families are getting at least some food, so it seems that the staff are at times dipping into their own pockets to make sure everyone gets care.

Thanks to the generosity of many people, we are now at about 40 sponsorships. If we could get just 10 more, all 100 of the children would be able to count on regular food deliveries to their homes. The cost is $38/month, which supports the care point but also provides schooling, counseling, spiritual care, clothing, medical care, and so much more.

Today at 4:25 the call came.... It is 4:25 I was sitting out by the pool just getting ready to get in. The neighbor had just left and my kids were swimming. I sit on the edge to slide in and just then the phone rings. I think I will see who it is, but I am not going to answer it. It says 703.... oh my I think that is America World, I start crying. I answer the phone and it is Terra she asked me how I was, I ask is this "the call" she says yes... Day Four (tomorrow we go home)

Hello again. It is Thursday night! We went to Kids Care Orphanage today. That is where Daniel lived from March 31st until June 10th. It was really sad to see all the kids there that do not have families waiting to pick them up. We got some great videos of the older kids in their school singing the ABC's and singing in Amharic. We passed out granola bars and dum dums. We also took some playground balls. When we took Daniel into the home and told the nannies, that we had Fitsum, they just went crazy. They were so excited to see him. They held him and kissed him, and spent time talking to him. One of them talked to him in Amharic and Robel our guide translated it for us on video. There were rooms of healthy children, rooms of sick kids, rooms of toddlers, and the school house of about 30 kids. The kids just couldn't get enough attention from us.
