Our bags are (almost) packed. We're (almost) ready to go.

Dear friends and family,

Michael, Allison, and I will leave for Ethiopia on Saturday, March 8. We fly to Dulles airport on Friday night with our friend Glen Bogdanovich (for whom this is his first trip. His wife Myndi traveled with Lori and Benjamin last year). On Saturday morning, we'll meet up with my cousin Patty, and many friends as well as soon to be friends.

We will arrive in Ethiopia on Sunday, spend the night in Addis Ababa, and make the ten hour drive to Kombolcha on Monday. We'll spend late Monday, and Tuesday through Friday with the kids. Next year, we will begin working with a second care point, so we will also be visiting that location. We'll drive back to Addis Ababa the next day, spend Sunday and Monday attending church and being tourists and will leave Ethiopia late Monday night, returning to the U.S. early Tuesday morning. Ethiopia is eight hours ahead of Eastern time.

I will post photos and other info about our trip as time and Internet access allows. Thank you for your prayers and support during our trip.

Today at 4:25 the call came.... It is 4:25 I was sitting out by the pool just getting ready to get in. The neighbor had just left and my kids were swimming. I sit on the edge to slide in and just then the phone rings. I think I will see who it is, but I am not going to answer it. It says 703.... oh my I think that is America World, I start crying. Day Four (tomorrow we go home)

Hello again. It is Thursday night! We went to Kids Care Orphanage today. That is where Daniel lived from March 31st until June 10th. It was really sad to see all the kids there that do not have families waiting to pick them up. We got some great videos of the older kids in their school singing the ABC's and singing in Amharic. We passed out granola bars and dum dums. We also took some playground balls. When we took Daniel into the home and told the nannies, that we had Fitsum, they just went crazy. They were so excited to see him. They held him and kissed him, and spent time talking to him. One of them talked to him in Amharic and Robel our guide translated it for us on video. There were rooms of healthy children, rooms of sick kids, rooms of toddlers, and the school house of about 30 kids. The kids just couldn't get enough attention from us.
