Our October Update!

Today we received our October update on our son Daniel:
Here is what it says:


Daniel is on Bebelac-2 formula, which is for children over 6 months of age. He also eats porridge-like cereal 3 times a day. He also sometimes eats "regular" food such as rice and vegetables and injera.

SLEEPING

Daniel is a good sleeper and usually wakes once during the night for a bottle, and takes 2 naps during the day.

APPEARANCE/DEVELOPMENT

Daniel is SO adorable. He has light skin, big eyes, and a great smile. He is now walking everywhere, and climbing on all the furniture.

SOCIAL

Daniel has a big personality and is so fun. He loves to smile and laugh, and is very easy-going. He is a definite favorite of all the staff!

MEDICAL/SPECIAL NEEDS

Daniel has been healthy since the last update.

MEASUREMENTS

Current weight: 20 pounds
Height: 76 cm or 30 inches
Head circumference: 40.5

We also received a new picture! I can't wait to introduce Daniel to all of you! It is now October and courts should open in one week. We are hoping to travel one month from today! Please pray that all the court dates are successful for all the waiting families. It is time to bring our son home! Oh and by the way in our picture Daniel still has hair. There was a rumor that all the kids in the Transition House had their heads shaved!

Yipppeeeeee!!! We got our update too. So exciting! Funny ... I hadn't heard the rumor about the kids hair. My update says Malachi has a head full of hair. :) WALKING ????? WOW !!!! You're gonna have your hands full. :) Hoping to meet you one month from today (or tomorrow technically). :)

Today at 4:25 the call came.... It is 4:25 I was sitting out by the pool just getting ready to get in. The neighbor had just left and my kids were swimming. I sit on the edge to slide in and just then the phone rings. I think I will see who it is, but I am not going to answer it. It says 703.... oh my I think that is America World, I start crying. I answer the phone and it is Terra she asked me how I was, I ask is this "the call" she says yes... Reunions (Tom)

The primary reason we made this trip to Ethiopia was to have Daniel and Tamenech meet their birth families as well as learn the culture and history of their native countries. In order to start the process, we hired a gentleman who we've known for many years to find them. Yonas has helped numerous adoptees find their birth families, so we were excited to learn what he could find. We sent him all of the information we had and he started his work. In short time, he had located everyone. Tamenech's family is from Sidama, a territory in the southern part of the country. They live in traditional huts in a  vlllage with no running water or electricity. We knew Tamenech had grandparents and at least one sibling. Yonas reported after a visit that Tamenech's grandfather had passed, along with one brother. Her grandmother was still around, as well as a sister (who had just gotten married in an arranged marriage).  Daniel's mother had moved to Beirut shortly after he was born, whic
