Our Schedule for our Ethiopia trip!

Saturday Nov. 1st
-Leave home 10 am drive to Boston Airport
-Leave Boston at 2:53 pm fly to Washington/Dulles
We will be meeting up with at least two other families in our travel group here...
-Leave Washington DC at 9:30 pm (on Ethiopian Air)
we will land in Rome for one hour to refuel, restock plane, and clean bathroom (we stay on plane) then it is off to Ethiopia.

Sunday Nov. 2nd
-We arrive at Addis Ababa at 7:30 pm Ethiopia Time (that would be 12:30 am EST)
after obtaining our Visa, passports, and luggage, we meet our drivers and head to the hotel.
- We are told at this time to just try to get a good nights sleep.

Monday Nov. 3rd
-10:00 orientation meeting
-lunch at Garden Paradise
-coffee at Kaldis (oops I have never had coffee! Thanks Grandpa)
-THE MOMENT WE HAVE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR, WE GET TO MEET OUR CHILDREN AND SPEND THE AFTERNOON WITH THEM!)
-Dinner at the Metro Pizza

Tuesday Nov. 4th
-10 am paper party for US Embassy (fill out papers for Daniel's Visa)
-Shopping
-Lunch at Family restaurant
-Coffee Ceremony and Team Meeting at Transition Home (My good friend Jody said she would drink my coffee)
-GOTCHA DAY- WE GET TO BRING DANIEL BACK TO THE HOTEL WITH US!
-Dinner at hotel

Wednesday Nov. 5th
-Morning with Daniel.....
-12:15 meet in lobby to leave for US Embassy
-1:00 Embassy appointment (apply for Daniel's Visa)
-back to hotel to hang out

Thursday Nov. 6th
-meet in lobby at 10:00 am
-Spend morning at Kids Care Orphanage
-Lunch at Blue Tops
-Visit Gelgela Orphanage
-dinner at hotel

Friday Nov. 7th
-second round of shopping if needed or just time on our own...
-meet in lobby at 6pm to check out
-6:30 leave for airport
-10:15 Leave Addis Ababa (on Ethiopian Airlines)

Saturday Nov. 8th
-arrive in Washington DC at 7:20 am (EST)
-leave DC 12:25 pm for Boston
-1:59 pm arrive at Boston Airport
-Welcome from our boys Michael and Benjamin, Grandma and Grandpa, and the Wonderful Steiger Family!
-head home....

Today at 4:25 the call came.... It is 4:25 I was sitting out by the pool just getting ready to get in. The neighbor had just left and my kids were swimming. I sit on the edge to slide in and just then the phone rings. I think I will see who it is, but I am not going to answer it. It says 703.... oh my I think that is America World, I start crying. Reunions (Tom)

The primary reason we made this trip to Ethiopia was to have Daniel and Tamenech meet their birth families as well as learn the culture and history of their native countries. In order to start the process, we hired a gentleman who we've known for many years to find them. Yonas has helped numerous adoptees find their birth families, so we were excited to learn what he could find. We sent him all of the information we had and he started his work. In short time, he had located everyone. Tamenech's family is from Sidama, a territory in the southern part of the country. They live in traditional huts in a  vlllage with no running water or electricity. We knew Tamenech had grandparents and at least one sibling. Yonas reported after a visit that Tamenech's grandfather had passed, along with one brother. Her grandmother was still around, as well as a sister (who had just gotten married in an arranged marriage).  Daniel's mother had moved to Beirut shortly after he was born, whic
